First Year - Basic Science and Humanities

Department of Basic Sciences and Humanitieshas been established in 1984 and consists of four sections (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities). We are committed to serve the needs of various engineering branches by imparting fundamental knowledge of applied sciences along with grooming of basic skills through an effective teaching/learning environment. The staff members are very enthusiastic, dynamic and committed towards all the activities of the department.

Department provides an encouraging environment to develop the intellectual capacity, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving ability to students. We are always keen to offer students an academic experience of “thinking, learning and applying”.

Department also ensures the enrichment of technical skills, communication and soft skills of students through technical writing, oral communication and organizing seminars.

Staff members are encouraged and actively involved in R&D work and have funded research projects in Physics department. They also have research publications and text books to their credit. They are also closely associated with students through counseling and guidance for curricular, extracurricular activities etc.

First year departmentaims at grooming the overall personality of students by integrating education, research, skills, social responsibility, public service and values that are inculcated through a unique blend of sciences, engineering and humanities.
