About Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering has been established in the year 1984 with an initial intake of 60 students; approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra. From session 1989-1990 intake of the department was increased by 30 seats with an aim to provide value added education to the students so as to develop at Home their skills in civil engineering field to serve the country (total intake of department was 90). In the year 2008-2009 the intake was increased with 30 making total intake as 120 seats.
Fromthe academic year2009-2010, M.Tech. (Structural Engg.) is started with intake capacity of 18. The department progressed consistently and has achieved high standard of quality education with highly qualified and experienced teaching faculty members to train the students to attain good professional status in their career.
From the academic year 2011-12, the department is recognised as a place of higher learning leading to PhD. 15 Research scholars can pursue their research leading to PhD.
Civil Deptt has been granted accreditation by NBA for 2019-2022.Earlier Civil Department was accredited Two times by NBA..
The department has good representation in the university’s Academic Bodies, Board of studies in Civil Engineering Academic Council etc. The department undertakes consultancy and R&D activities. The department has successfully completed AICTE aided research project on Geo-foams under TAPTEC.
The Department is fully equipped with best position of teaching faculty, sophisticated laboratory equipment's and latest computational software’s like STRUDS, ANSYS, SAP, AUTOCAD, MATLAB etc. which helps the students to develop expertise in Civil Engineering. Prof.Dr. Valsson Varghese is Head of Department.
The department has a cluster of highly experienced faculty with various expertise and industrial exposure. Dr. D.P. Singh, Principal is an expertise in Enviromental Engg., Dr. A. M. Badar, Dr. N. R. Dhamge, an expertise in hydraulics, Prof. R.V.R.K. Prasad, an expertise in Structural Engg. etc. The departmental staffs are sponsored / deputed to various reputed Institutes / industries for attending various Continuing Education progammes to enhance the expertise in their respective fields.
Civil Engineering Department has conducted two International Conferences, "Emerging Technology in Structural Engineering - ETSE-2017" in 14, 15thMarch 2017, and " Innovative Realms in Civil Engineering - IRICE-2018" in 23, 24thJanuary 2018. AICTE sponsored All India seminar on Repairs and Rehabilitation of Structure- RETROFIT-2014. Beside various other activities are undertaken to build and upgrade the outcome of aspiring technocrats..
AICTE has granted grants of Rs. 50,000 for oraganising " Sustainable Management in Environmental Protection - SMEP -2005 and Rs. 2,00,000 for conduction of All India Seminar RETROFIT-2014
MoU's have been signed with Industries, Research institutions and Personalities for value additions to the curriculum for extending R&D.
The staff participates in various Workshops and Seminars and publishes their research work in Journals, Seminars and conferences.
The university exam result of students have been very much appreciative due to their university merit rankings. Their placements are remarkable and many students opts for higher studies leading for good placements in various MNC in India and abroad.
Department of Civil Engg has Student's chapter of ICI, IWWA
ICI has awarded special appreciation award of "Emerging ICI Student Chapter" to K. D. K. College of Engineering on 24 Sept. 2016 at Bengaluru , at the hands of President of ICI Dr Manmohan Kalgal.
Department of Civil Engineering has been receivedICI Best Student Chapter Award - 2019at the hands of President ICI Er Vivek Naik & Er. Vinay Gupta, at New Delhi.. The award is the reflection of conduction, organisation various events to acclamatise with the Engg knowledge and students employability abilities.
